After School Athletics
The Hillview PTO invites students to participate in our After-School Athletics Program. This program is run by the PTO and relies on your support and involvement. Hillview Athletics is a recreational program where we aim to have a positive learning experience for our children, coaches, and families. Every student should have the opportunity to be a part of a team within our community.
Games and Practices
Teams participate in leagues organized by the City of Menlo Park or other local sports organizations, and compete in games and matches against other schools and often other Hillview teams. Games and matches are typically held on weeknights, and may be located at the Arrillaga Family Gym or at other school locations. For many sports, practices are held after school and on weekends. For the most impacted sports (volleyball and basketball), practices are scheduled based on gym and coach availability, and may start later in the evening.
Coaches
Hillview Athletics relies on a large pool of coaches and we can only field as many teams as we have coaches. Coaches are mostly parent volunteers who dedicate their time to coaching and developing the players in various sports. We also pair high school students with adult coaches to provide learning opportunities in coaching. On occasion, young adults with sports backgrounds may lead teams to gain more experience in coaching. Without the support of our volunteers and assistant coaches, not all students at Hillview would have the opportunity to participate in sports. If you are interested in becoming a Hillview coach, please email afterschoolsports@hillviewpto.org.
Scholarships
Hillview Athletics encourages all students to participate in sports and offers scholarships for players who qualify. Contact the student’s grade-level counselor to receive a scholarship code.
